I create Darkroom Prints by hand using traditional analogue processes. I believe that printed photographs are immensely important especially in the digital era, and this is my favorite way to present the black and white images I create.
From first observing and measuring a scene, and deciding on camera settings before releasing the shutter and allowing light to travel through the lens striking the film emulsion and exciting the electrons within the silver halide crystals to form a latent image. Then developing the film to stabilize the atoms of silver and on to the printing process where light is projected through the negative on to photosensitive paper which is developed similarly to the film itself creating a positive image that materializes before you in the tray of chemicals. The process is my passion, and I think the product is beautiful.
